Audacity Outshines Talent?

It’s often not the most talented artists that become known. It’s those with the most audacity. I read that in Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist’s Way. Before Cameron’s book, I remember showing my art to a neighbor in Austin and she said I needed more audacity.

Bay Area filmmaker Mary Kerr and I had a discussion about audcacity and she said it really does come down to confidence. “Your audience will feel it if you feel it,” said Kerr.

Kerr produced the documentary San Francisco’s Wild History, a movie about the Beat Era in San Francisco. She brought up Joan Brown, an artist with plenty of audacity. Don’t miss Kerr’s talk talk about her impressions of Joan Brown at the San Jose Museum of Art on November 2nd, noon to 1pm.

Awaken to Your Dream!

Can you get in touch with your big audacious dream in less than two decades? Two years? Two months? Two days? How about two hours?

I didn’t think it was possible and I was wrong. Recently I attended an Awaken the Dreamer Changing the Dream symposium, at the Red Vic B&B and Peace Center on Haight Street in San Francisco. The event was lead by educator, painter and writer, Laurie Marshall, founder of Unity Through Creativity. Among those present in the audience was artist and founder of the Red Vic, Sami Sunchild, and Betty Kissilove, author of Great Ball of Fire!, a beautiful book about how the Universe came into existence.

We sat in a circle as we watched short videos and were lead through short thought-provoking exercises. The evening was sponsored by the Pachamama Alliance (“PA”).

I left with a feeling blessed unrest.

Feeling Stuck? How to Overcome Inertia in 60 Seconds

Mystery of the Heart

Do you find the week gone by and your “to do” list is longer than when the week began? Or have you given up on the list?

No need to feel ashamed. Sometimes inertia sets in and it could be that sunshine motivates you and there isn’t any! (as I write from foggy San Francisco).

Getting unstuck could take less than 60 seconds! One of the beliefs of feng shui, the art of placement, is that if you move 27 things you change your life.

Well 27 sounds a bit overwhelming, doesn’t it? Why not take a baby step? Move one thing. A lamp, a coffee table, a bookcase, the TV.

In under 60 seconds I moved one small bookcase (I put pads on the bottom so I could slide it) and the results have been astounding! My living room has it’s mojo back! The positive vibe I get from this one change is delicious. So what’s one thing you could move?
So next time you feel challenged, try moving a table, a chair, the lamp. One big or little thing. See how it feels. One thing.
