What art school did Jackson Pollack, Georgia O’Keefe, Thomas Hart Benton and Robert Henri all have in common? The Art Students League of New York. I mention Robert Henri because he taught at the Art Students League and wrote the book, The Art Spirit – the inspiration for my blog. Pollack, O’Keefe and Benton all studied there. And I did too. Back in the days of darkroom photography one of the first things you might be taught is how the enlarger works. What you see are objects placed under the enlarger on top of photosensitive paper. Don’t have access to a darkroom? You can make the more modern day version of them by placing objects on your scanner.

I’ve begun creating a series of black and white postcards and this is one of them. The photo is of a building in Manhattan. The quote was cited by Ms. Edwene Gaines in one of her many workshops about prosperity consciousness. She shared her dramatic story of how she gave ten percent of any money she received to whatever fed her spiritually. She started this “test” when she had holes in her shoes. Within a short time her dire circumstances were reversed. Since 1976 Edwene Gaines has traveled the world living her 100% commitment to the transformation of the abundance consciousness of Planet Earth.
The Democrats Need a Metaphor
Our brains think associationally. The Republican Party has found a useful metaphor for their movement. Can you think of a powerful metaphor for the Democrats? How about “Let’s Rock and Roll” as a response to sipping tea?
