I went to a blogger’s meeting last night and there was mention of www.weebly.com as a way to create an elegant website and blog for free. It is worth checking out. Time Magazine named it one of the 50 best websites of 2007. See http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1633488_1633608_1633636,00.html
A Whack on the Side of the Head
This book by Roger von Oech was required reading at a creativity workshop I attended many years ago. I just picked it up again today and on page 165 the exercise is “Are you creative?” and you check either the box for yes or no. A major oil company had conducted research on what differentiated creatve people from the lesser creative ones. Engineers were asked various questions and after three months of study psychologists found the differentiating factor:
“The creative people thought they were creative, and the less creative people didn’t think they were.”
Unity Through Creativity and The First Virtual Mural
I hadn’t ever heard of a virtual mural until I met Laurie Marshall, founder of Unity Through Creativity (www.unitythroughcreativity.net). Check the UTC website for more info about how you can participate.
What Cannot Be Taken Away
I participated in a two hour workshop titled: “What Cannot Be Taken Away, A Visual Arts Workshop,” taught by Evan Bissell yesterday. The focus was “Health and Healing as Justice.” Two quotes Evan shared resonated with me.
“You have to have the ocrrect analysis to have the correct conclusion.” – Elaine Brown, a former leading member of the Black Panther Party, author, and advocate for juvenile justice.
“Breathing in, I see myself as still waters. . . breathe out, I see things as they are. ” – Thich Nhat Hanh
